You may well recognise the set up if you have visited Fruit Shop before, but unlike the original this game has a theme which will really interest most people. In Fruit Shop Christmas Edition, NetEnt decided ramp up the excitement with a holly jolly version of the game.
Fruit Shop Christmas Edition is a 5-reel, 15 fixed pay line slot, that offers a festive 96.7% RTP. In keeping with the lay out of the original, they have the reels spinning inside what seems to be a shop front. However, there is a slight change to the graphics with the addition of snow, a snowman and a Christmas tree. All the symbols have been given a festive feel too, with ice block fruits and snow-capped letters.
Bet Amounts – Betting on Fruit Shop Christmas Edition begins at 15p per spin and can be increased to a maximum of £300 per spin. Amend your bet easily by adjusting the coin level to the left of the spin button and the coin value to the right.
Wild Symbol – The Fruit Shop Christmas Edition logo is your wild and will substitute for all other symbols in the game. If the wild symbol forms part of a winning combination, that line win will be subject to a x2 multiplier.
Other Symbols – There is no scatter symbol in Fruit Shop Christmas Edition, but don’t worry there is still a really interesting way to grab some bonus spins. You will notice that all the fruit symbols are encased in a block of ice, these are your higher value symbols. They include a Plum, Watermelon, Cherry, Lemon and Orange. Lower value symbols are depicted by the usual card values, A, K, Q, J and the number 10, which all have snow drifting off them in various directions.
Bonus Spins feature – As we mentioned there is no scatter symbol to trigger the bonus spins. Instead you will bag those extras by landing 3 or more of the fruit symbols, with a special extra for landing cherries. As you will see below, to trigger the spins you need either 2, 3, 4 or 5 symbols and you are awarded spins accordingly. Spins can be retriggered as well and that can be very fruitful!
- Cherry – 2, 3, 4 or 5 symbols will award 1, 2 or 5 bonus spins,
- Plum – 3, 4 or 5 symbols will award 1, 2 or 5 bonus spins,
- Lemon – 3, 4 or 5 symbols will award 1, 2 or 5 bonus spins,
- Orange – 3, 4 or 5 symbols will award 1, 2 or 5 bonus spins,
- Watermelon – 3, 4 or 5 symbols will award 1, 2 or 5 bonus spins.
All wins landed whilst in bonus spins are also subject to that all important x2 multiplier as well, meaning there is chance for some bigger wins here.
Fruit Shop Christmas Edition is basically the original game but covered in snow. We aren’t quite sure why NetEnt released the game with no additions to it or even a change to the features! We definitely would have liked to have seen a new feature, but all that aside the game is still really enjoyable. Wins arrive in the main game as often as they do in the bonus game and we noticed that it was very easy to retrigger the bonus spins too. All in all a nice game, but as an update it was a bit lacking.
