Boku Slots has a special place in our hearts for retro slot games and this one is right up there with the best of them. Welcome to 5 Reel Drive, a 5-reel 9 pay line slot game from the team over at Microgaming. This game has an iconic American theme with images such as trucks, yellow taxis and doughnuts, but is it worth your time and money; lets find out!
With an impressive RTP of 97% 5 Reel Drive is a simple yet energetic slot, which is an unusual combination for the older games out there. The soundtrack leaves a lot to be desired, but considering it was one of the first slot games to be created by Microgaming we can forgive that and simply turn down the volume.
Bet Amounts– Betting starts at 25p per pay line, meaning spins range from 25p for 1 pay line to £2.25 for 9 pay lines. However, you can adjust the coin amount per spin, just to make it that little bit more interesting. By selecting to increase your coin amount, you are increasing your bet by double the original max bet total. You can only use the increase coin amount when using all 9 pay lines, this means you can start off at £2.25. Then it will increase to £4.50, £9.00 or a maximum of £18.00, so still affordable when all is said and done.
Wild Symbol – Your wild symbol is pretty obvious in this game, as it is a yellow road sign with the word WILD written across it. The wild substitutes for all symbols except the scatters.
Other Symbols – There are plenty of symbols on offer, meaning the chances of a winning combination is high. Your highest paying symbol is the flaming wheel, so if you land 5 of those across an active pay line then you win 10,000 coins. The lowest paying symbol is the dunking doughnut and coffee, which will only award you 50 coins if you land x5 across an active pay line. However, the range of symbols in between are quite creative, including blueberry pie, burgers and three different race cars with a character’s face attached to the symbol. It’s little extras like these which add to the fun and make 5 Reel Drive an interesting game play.
Although 5 Reel Drive is very reminiscent of the era it was created (around 1999), it is still very popular today. The reason for this is that it is so simplistic in design and works really well on mobile devices with faster, seamless game play. In addition, its not very complicated to understand as it has just the one wild and scatter symbol, and zero in game features. For those of you who prefer complex games then this may not be the game for you, but give it a try you may just love it as much as we do.
