Fortunium

Steampunk is one of the latest trends within slot themes and it makes for some very pleasing graphics. What Boku Slots loves about these types of games is the scope for interesting features and bonuses. Let’s see if Fortunium, a game created by Microgaming Software and Stormcraft Studios can win us all over?

Game Features

Fortunium is a 5-reel, 40 fixed pay line slot set out as a 5×5 grid and offers players a very healthy RTP of 96.47%. Set against a city scene background, the imagery is steampunk themed with icons such as mechanical treasure chests, air balloons, guns and of course let’s not forget the elaborately dressed male and female characters too. We were a little let down on the background music and sounds, but more because of what it was lacking than what it was offering. It was very unexciting and, in some ways, quite dull.

Bet Amounts – Betting in Fortunium begins at 10p per spin and can be increased to £125 per spin. However, that is based on playing without the extra win booster feature, which is explained below. You can amend your bet by clicking onto the coin icon and adjusting the sliding scale on both the coin size and coins per line in play. There is also the option of using quickbet instead, which is to the left of the betting screen. Whichever option you use, be sure to have adjusted your bet according to your funds before you hit spin.

Wild Symbol – A golden orb with the letter Won is your wild symbol and it will substitute for all other symbols except the scatter. The orb wild is your second highest paying symbol in Fortunium as well, offering 160x coins as a win for landing 5 on a winning pay line.

Scatter Symbol – An eerie green glowing glass orb is your scatter symbol and your highest paying symbol in the game. Land 3 or more of these anywhere on the reels and you will trigger the bonus spins feature. However, landing 5 of the scatters on a winning pay line will award a 800x coin win as well as your line wins too.

Win Booster Symbol – This is a very interesting addition to Fortunium indeed. By clicking on the win booster, you are agreeing to up your stake by 50% of the original stake amount. So, if your bet is £8 and you hit the win booster it will be increased to £12. But, for this extra amount you are guaranteed to be given extra mystery symbols on every spin.

Fortunium at boyle casinoMystery Symbols – As the reels spin you will see two boxes, a blue and a golden one and they will have question marks on them. These are your mystery symbols, and when they land they will open to reveal any one of the symbols within Fortunium except the scatter. With win booster activated you will find that these mystery symbols land in multiples on the reels, helping to create bigger wins where needed.

Bonus Spins Feature – To trigger the bonus spins you need to have landed three or more green glass orb scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. Having done this, you will be allocated 10 bonus spins to play through in the feature. Land any more scatters within this bonus round to be awarded an extra spin for each one, this is a great way of extending the spins if you are lucky enough. As well as that, if you triggered the bonus with 3, 4 or 5 scatters you will see an interesting addition of mystery symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 as shown below:

  • 3 scatters will turn one reel into mystery symbols,
  • 4 scatters will turn two reels into mystery symbols,
  • 5 scatters will turn three reels into mystery symbols.

Overview

When we first happened across this game we hoped we wouldn’t be too disappointed, and we weren’t! Aside from the shocking background music that is, but we can let that slide this once. After playing for a while without the win booster activated and then a while with it activated, we can say we did find that we won substantially more times with it than without. Whether that justifies the huge extra stake amount you need to be paying to have it, is something only you can decide. Fortunium is a great game, with lots of features to keep things interesting and we think the collaboration between Microgaming Software and Stormcraft Studios is definitely a match well made.
