Game Features

Hanzo’s Dojo is a 5-reel, 20 fixed pay line slot, with an RTP of 96.10% and it’s chock full of extras too. Pan pipes play along in the background, which at first seemed lovely, but after a while we had to switch it off as it got a little pitchy and annoying. Your reels are set out as if they are forming the front entrance of the dojo and are surrounded by cherry blossoms and lanterns. Hanzo’s Dojo symbols are all oriental in theme with four martial arts characters making up your higher value symbols and the four elemental signs making up the lower values.

Bet Amounts – Betting on Hanzo’s Dojo begins at just 10p per spin and can be increased in increments up to £125 at its highest. To amend your bet you just need to change the coin value, as the lines are fixed and can’t be changed. Adjust the plus and minus symbols either side of the coin value until you are happy before you spin.

Wild Symbol – A golden mask is your wild symbol on Hanzo’s Dojo and it will substitute for all others except the bonus and scatters. There are two variations on the wild symbol, one is a regular version available on the reels in the main game and bonus spins. With the second being an expanding wild that will only land via the rooftop feature in the main game only.

Scatter Symbol – During the main game you will see a gong with a number engraved on the front. This is your scatter symbol and landing three or more of these anywhere in view, including the rooftop feature will trigger the bonus spins.

Hanzo’s Dojo Bonus Symbol – Hanzo is the dojo master so it is only right he has his own bonus symbol. Land three of this symbol in the rooftop feature to trigger the Hanzo bonus spins. He will only appear in the rooftop feature though, so this can be a little harder to trigger.

Rooftop Feature – Across the top of the reels is the rooftop feature box, which is a set of x3 symbol spaces reserved for special symbols. This includes the Hanzo bonus, the expanding wild and an extra scatter symbol too. Each Symbol brings something extra to the game:

  • Expanding Wild – will turn the entire reel below into a wild reel,
  • Hanzo bonus – awards x3 bonus spins and awards a 3×3 symbol onto reels 2, 3 and 4 for the duration of the spins,
  • Extra Scatter – just one scatter in the rooftop feature can trigger the bonus spins instead of waiting to land 3 in the base game!

Bonus Spins Feature – To trigger the bonus spins on Hanzo’s Dojo you need to land x3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the main reels. But you can also trigger the spins by just 1 appearing on the rooftop feature. Each scatter symbol will have a number of spins on the gong, your spin allocation is made up from the total number of spins in view on the scatters. If you landed a rooftop scatter symbol you will also receive one of the spin boosters too. During the bonus spins round you will be allocated a 3×3 reel which will cover reels 2, 3 and 4 and will help greatly in completing win combinations.

Bonus Spin Boosters – In both the bonus spins and the Hanzo spins, you will be allocated at random with boosters to help your chances of winning bigger. These boosters will activate every time a scatter symbol lands on the rooftop feature. If you triggered the spins with a rooftop scatter, then you will start the bonus round with a booster as well as gaining them throughout the spins.

  • Red lantern – will award wins both ways,
  • Purple lantern – awards a 3×3 symbol nudge,
  • Green lantern – awards a x2 multiplier,
  • Blue lantern – turns reel 5 completely wild,
  • Extra spins – allocates x2 extra spins.

The 3×3 symbol nudges is not available in the Hanzo spins. Each booster that activates will award a pay-out for the symbols on the reels as it triggers and then will remain in place for the duration of the round.

Overview

Hanzo’s Dojo is a feast for the eyes, graphically pleasing and easy on the pocket too. With wins occurring faster in the bonus games than in the main game, but that’s not too much of a worry as the features trigger fairly regularly anyway. Yggdrasil Gaming have developed yet another awesome slot that be enjoyed by many. The addition of the rooftop feature was a great twist and certainly ramped up the gameplay in our eyes. We would definitely like to visit Hanzo’s Dojo again because it’s the perfect game for a novice or professional player.
