Kathmandu is a 5-reel, 9 pay line slot that offers players an RTP of 96.29%. It is designed in a retro fashion, with vintage style drawings of maps and temples. Kathmandu offers players a simpler way to play a slot, in that it only has one feature to speak of. The sounds that tick along whilst the reels spin are somewhat old school and not really in keeping with the overall theme. That being said they aren’t too off putting that you will need to switch the sound off, but the choice is there, if you want too.
Bet Amounts – Betting on Kathmandu begins at just 1p per line in play and can be increased up to 10p per line in play. Meaning spins can vary in cost from 1p per spin up to £45 per spin. Wild Symbol – There are two wild symbols in Kathmandu, the first being a kind of shaker looking item which is your main game wild. The second is a temple and this will only appear during the bonus spins feature. The shaker wild is the highest paying symbol in the game and offers a x6000 coin win for landing 5 on an active pay line. It will also substitute for all other symbols except the scatter, as does the temple wild in the bonus spins.
Scatter Symbol – A stone archway with a bell inside is your scatter symbol and landing three or more of these anywhere on the reels, will trigger the bonus feature for you. Scatter wins are also in play here, with an extra win being awarded on top of any line wins made.

Other Symbols – Symbols in Kathmandu are related to the theme, in as much as you can see temples, a map of the area, an elephant and some bag of grains. Those four symbols make up your higher values, with lower paying symbols being the A, K, Q, J and 10 icons, all given a bright colour scheme to stand out.
Bonus Spins Feature – To trigger the bonus spins, you need to have landed 3 or more of the bell scatter symbol anywhere on the reels. This is a good twist as it means no matter what pay lines you are playing with, you have an equal chance of landing the scatters. Once you have landed the required number of scatter symbols you will be allocated 15 bonus spins to play through. On top of those spins every win you land will be awarded a x5 multiplier and there is a second wild added to the reels in the form of a temple wild! You can even retrigger the bonus spins by landing three or more scatters during the round. Each time you retrigger the spins they will be added on to the current amount of spins you have left.
Gamble Feature – If you want to take the excitement a little further, you can choose to gamble after each winning spin. Overview
Overall Kathmandu has a lot of great points, including a nice amount of spins offered in the feature, a x5 multiplier on all wins and a second wild in the feature too. But, and this is the kicker, they are all centred around the feature with nothing much happening in the main game at all. Now, the one good thing about this is that the bonus feature will trigger more often than you think, mainly because you don’t need to land the required scatters on an active pay line. They can land at random anywhere on the reels! Main game wins happen often enough but more on the lower end of the pay scale. The problem with this slot is that it can get boring pretty quick, especially if that bonus doesn’t trigger very often. Kathmandu is a nice place to visit for a while, but we wouldn’t want to set up camp if you catch our drift.
