Steampunk meets ghost story is the theme of our next slot and whilst it doesn’t appear to be a good mix, we think it has worked out quite well. This is all thanks to the design team at Microgaming and their quirky nature of mixing things up! Game Features
Phantom Cash is a 5-reel, 25 fixed pay line slot, offering you steampunk lovers an RTP of 96.41%. Set inside steel structures in what looks like an alleyway of Victorian London, even the character symbols have a Victorian feel. Symbols include four ghost characters in red, blue, yellow and green as your higher values. With lower value symbols being A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9, with each one given a royal feel to it with crowns, shields and sceptres attached. An eerie track plays along giving the game a bit of an edge, but it was more off-putting than enjoyable for us, so we switched to silent.
Bet Amounts – Betting begins at 25p per spin and can be increased up to the maximum of just £5.00 per spin. Making Phantom Cash one of the more affordable slot games available. You can adjust your bet by using the arrows on either side of the bet amount section, at the base of the reels.
Wild Symbol – There are 2 wild symbols in Phantom Cash, the two ghost chasers themselves Thurmingham and Carstairs. Very English names don’t you think, and those two gentlemen wild symbols will substitute for all others except the scatter. Thurmingham will only appear on reel 1 and Carstairs will only appear on reel 5, and any wins formed with either of the wilds will be awarded a x2 multiplier.
Scatter Symbol – Your scatter symbol is a haunted house and you will need to land three or more anywhere on the reels to trigger the feature. Scatter wins are also in play in Phantom Cash and will award an extra amount on top of your line win.
- 3 scatter symbols will award a x3 multiplier to your bet amount as an extra win,
- 4 scatter symbols will award a x25 multiplier to your bet amount as an extra win,
- 5 scatter symbols will award a x100 multiplier to your bet amount as an extra win.
Ghost Zap Feature – Having landed three or more of the haunted house scatter symbol, you will trigger this feature. At the top of the screen you will see the number 8 appear in the ghost meter, which is the number of ghosts you must catch. You will now have an unlimited number of respins until all ghosts are captured. Here is where our English gents Thurmingham and Carstairs come back into play. Every time you land either of the gentleman wild symbols on the same row as a ghost, you will capture them. If you catch a ghost with just one gentleman wild on the row you will be awarded a x2 multiplier for the win, but land both wild symbols at the same time and get a x4 multiplier! The fun doesn’t stop there though, land 3 or more scatters and you will have another 8 ghosts added to your meter to catch. This means you’ll get more spins until they are all captured. The bonus round will only end once all the ghosts have been caught. The meter will count down as each ghost is captured so keep an eye on that.
Overview
Whilst Phantom Cash doesn’t have many things going on, for us the sheer scope of the bonus game more than makes up for it. Microgaming have once again created something very special, out of something that should never have worked at all. There is lots of fun to be had with this one, from the intense graphics to the fun sound effects. Let’s not forget the one reason you are here though and that’s the wins, and you will not be disappointed. Bigger wins tend to only be found within the bonus round thanks to the x2 and x4 multipliers when you catch the ghosts. But, even in the main game the wins aren’t to be complained about, even the small ones happen often enough to keep the smaller bet players happy.
