Boku Slots is donning its adventurer hat and going in search of the Untamed Giant Panda. This is the third game in the untamed series from Microgaming, so we were interested to see if it was a rehash of the other two slots, or if they had created something original.
Untamed Giant Panda is a 5-reel, 243 ways to win slot offering a 96.32% RTP to its players. It has a lush bamboo forest feel to the background and the music is a soft tinkling that’s easy to listen to. The symbols all have a panda theme for the higher values and the usual card symbols for the lower.
Bet Amounts – Betting on Untamed Giant Panda begins at 30p per spin at the lowest of the adjustable scales and at its maximum bets can be £22.50. This seems to be the usual amount for this series, but as always remember to check the scales before hitting spin. Be advised the pay outs are all adjusted automatically depending upon the stake made.
Wild Symbol – The Untamed Giant Panda logo is the wild symbol and will substitute for all other symbols except the scatter. It is also the second highest paying symbol, offering a maximum pay out of 375 coins if the stake is at its highest of £22.50.
Scatter Symbol – Your scatter symbol is the panda eye set in a golden pendant, land 3 or more of these to trigger the bonus spins which is full of features too. You will also see that if the tip of the scatter is at the top of the reels, then you may be lucky enough to have the random nudge feature activate in order to push the whole symbol onto the reels to trigger the feature too. Not only that but the scatter is the highest paying symbol, offering a whopping coin win of 5,625 coins if you land 5 scatters on a winning line at the maximum bet amount.
Collect a Wild Feature – You will have seen this in previous untamed series games, but in short, the way it works is as follows. At the bottom of each reel you will see four boxes and as a wild symbol lands on the reels a box will fill. When all four boxes are filled the reel above will become fully wild and remain so for four spins. This can happen with multiple reels at any time and as such can be very profitable where wins are concerned.
Bonus Spin Feature – Having landed 3 or more scatter symbols you will enter the bonus spins round. In Untamed Giant Panda you are allocated 10 spins during which you will also have the brilliant wilds feature. This means that if a wild should land it will stay in place until the spins have ended.
Gamble Feature – This is a new adaptation of the usual gamble feature you will have seen in other Untamed series games. You will see what resembles a compass on the screen split into red or green colours. At the bottom of the screen you have the option to increase or decrease the colours. Once you have set the ratio of red to green you can spin and wherever the needle lands determine your result. Red means a loss and Green means a win, however there is a way to protect your winnings if you do suffer a loss. Prior to hitting spin click the word bank and it will protect 50% of your winnings, so if you do lose you still come out of it with something.
Untamed Giant Panda is entertaining enough, although we’re not sure why they made the change in the bonus spins feature from the other games; but overall it has no negative effect. This and the gamble feature seem to be the only difference between this and the other games, so we have little in terms of negative feedback. If you’re a fan of this game, you will thoroughly enjoy the others in the series too.
