Game Features
Acorn Pixie is a 5-reel, 30 fixed pay line slot that offers players a variable RTP of 92% to 96%. It has a fair few features on offer including something called buy a bonus, which we will go into further. There are two ethereal looking pixies on either side of the reels, which spin transparently against a woodland background. Symbols all take inspiration from the theme, with higher values depicted by four beautifully designed fairies in a variety of settings. Lower values are all depicted by symbols of a nature theme and include mushrooms, ladybirds, dragonflies, fairy boots, a pink flower and yellow flowers.
Bet Amounts – Betting on Acorn Pixie begins in the base game at 50p per spin and can be increased up to £250 per spin. Adjust the bet by clicking on the plus and minus symbols on either side of the bet amount, which is found to the right of the spin button.
Wild Symbol – A fairy kneeling down is your wild symbol in Acorn Pixie. It will substitute for all other symbols except the scatter. She is also your highest paying symbol in the game, offering up to x20 your line amount as a win if you land 5 in a winning combination.
Scatter Symbol – Your scatter symbol on Acorn Pixie is a fairy floating in front of a staircase, she will only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. If you land three or more of the floating fairy scatter on reels 2, 3 and 4 you will trigger the bonus spins.
Buy a Bonus Feature – If you want to bypass waiting for the bonus spins to trigger you could use this feature. You will see in the top left corner a symbol that says buy bonus! When you click on it you will be given three options as shown below. You simply need to choose which one you want and once you click on it the relevant bonus will begin.

All of the buy a bonus spin games will have extra wilds added on almost every spin and some even cross the reels as well. This means that when one lands it may cover one, two or even three spaces on the reels. As a wild lands it removes the symbol it lands on for the remaining spins.
Cluster Wilds Feature – At any time during the Acorn Pixie base game you may receive a cluster wild. This is a 2×2 formation of the wild symbol and she can appear at any time on any reel to help complete some wins for you. To identify the arrival of the cluster wild you will see some leaves falling onto the reels, this is a nice touch and in keeping with the theme. It lands frequently and will contribute to multiple line wins, if there are more than one available in the position it lands.
Bonus Spins Feature – Having landed three or more of the floating fairy scatter on Acorn Pixie, you will enter the bonus spins round. An allocation of 7 bonus spins will now be awarded, but you will be given a new set of reels for them to be played on. You will now have a set of 5 reels but 6 rows instead of 4 and there is a little something extra as well. On your first spin the space at the bottom of reel 3 will be turned wild and stay wild for the duration of the spins. It will remove the symbol and reveal part of an image beneath. On each subsequent spin acorns will be thrown into the reels turning the symbols they land on wild. This will remove those symbols from the reels too, revealing more of the image below and making those spaces wild for the remainder of the round. The number of acorns that will appear are selected at random but can be anywhere from 1 and 4 on each spin. Meaning you are looking at between 1 and 4 sticky wilds on each spin in the round, making bigger wins as each spin plays out!
Overview
Acorn Pixie is a stunningly designed slot, with some interesting additions. Firstly, the buy a bonus option, this is not something you will come across often in slot games. But is a great way to bypass waiting for the bonus to trigger. That being said we tried each level of the buy a bonus a few times, remembering that the levels cost £20, £40 and £100 to enter. We didn’t always win more than we wagered to enter the bonus rounds, more often it would be 75% return on the entry amount. That’s not to say we never won more than the amount wagered to enter the buy a bonus. We certainly did on a number of occasions, but not as often as you would hope with the amount being wagered to enter the feature!
Next we want to talk a little more about that cluster wild feature, this is going to be the one that brings you the most wins overall. We were very surprised at how often this feature triggers and pleased, as you will be. Finally, the bonus spins round, this is much harder to trigger, you need to land the floating wild on reels 2, 3 and 4 to activate this and it can take quite some time. If you are happy to play the long game, we advise to bet low and keep spinning in order for it to trigger. Overall Acorn Pixie has more pro’s than it does con’s and is a beautiful game to play, and base game wins happening fast thanks in part to the cluster wild feature.
