Whether you believe in heaven, hell or neither, this godly theme has long been utilised by slot designers everywhere and can sometimes be very effective. NetEnt as the masters of slot game design have utilised it in their latest game Archangels Salvation and boy does it look good; but how does it play?
Archangels Salvation is a 6-reel, 100 fixed pay line slot that really differs from the norm, as it is played across 12 rows instead of three. It offers an angelic 96.08% RTP for players as well as a few other bonuses too. The game itself is split into two sides, these are good represented by a beautiful angel and evil represented by a hellish looking demon. The reels spin from heaven down to hell which we thought was a cool twist to the game and they also form part of one of the features too. The background music is very effective and sounds almost like something out of a battle scene from a movie.
The usual card suits are the lower paying symbols and higher paying ones appear to be images associated with Devil and Angels.
Bet Amounts – Betting on Archangels Salvation begins at 40p per spin and can be increased to the maximum of £200 per spin. The bet amounts can be adjusted by amending either the coin value to the right of the screen, or the coin level to the left of the screen. Make sure you have adjusted these accordingly before each spin.
Wild Symbol – A 2×2 wilds block or a single lions head is your wild symbol on Archangels Salvation, representing both good and evil on either side. Land it anywhere on the reels to substitute for all other symbols except the scatter, however land it within the Hot Spot areas to trigger the feature. Stacked wilds and single wilds will only appear in the feature.
Scatter Symbol – Your scatter symbol is a golden shield with the letter S on the front. Landing 3 of these anywhere on the reels will trigger the bonus spins feature. As there are 12 rows and 6 reels you have much more opportunity for these to appear.
Hot Spot Feature – As you will see when playing Archangels Salvation, the first two rows and bottom two rows are emblazoned with blue and red fire accordingly. These are your heaven and hell hot spots. If you land a 2×2 Lion Wild symbol either fully or partially within this area, you will trigger the feature. The first thing that will happen is that the hot spot area will grow by one more row. The next that happens is wilds are added to the reels, dependant on where your original 2×2 symbol landed.
- Heaven – if the wild lands fully in the hot spot it will award four stacks of wilds to the reels and if it lands partially in the hot spot it will award just two stacks of wilds to the reels.
- Hell – if the wild lands fully in the hot spot it will award sixteen single wilds to the reels and if it lands partially in the hot spot it awards just 8 single wilds to the reels.
However, if part of a wild or part of a stacked wild lands in the hot spot area, it will retrigger the round with the addition of an extra stack of wilds or four single wilds. This means the hot spot feature can be retriggered many times, bringing bigger wins.
Bonus Spins Feature – Unlike other bonus spins this can be triggered by landing between 3 and 6 scatters on the reels, thanks to the extended rows available on Archangels Salvation. Once you have done this your spins begin immediately and are allocated as follows:
- 3 scatter symbols will award 10 bonus spins,
- 4 scatter symbols will award 15 bonus spins,
- 5 scatter symbols will award 20 bonus spins,
- 6 scatter symbols will award 25 bonus spins.
Unfortunately, you are not able to retrigger the bonus spins within the feature, there is however a little twist to help you out. The hot spot area is again increased by one more row, meaning you will find it easier to trigger the Hot Spot Feature from within the bonus spins.
Whether you are on the side of good or evil, Archangels Salvation has it all. The game is well designed in a fresh new way and still has managed to keep all the NetEnt twists and turns that we know and love. The line wins come often, and that hot spot feature is a brilliant addition to both the base game and the bonus spins feature. Overall, we think this game has a long and happy life to live within the confines of any online casino library and we will certainly be hitting this game up again in the future.
