When gaming and history are combined, sometimes wonderful things can happen. Let Boku Slots take you back to 1709 and the battle of Poltava, a great war between Russia and Sweden. As usual Elk Studios have lent their artistic flair to this theme and have brought to light the struggle between the two super powers, in this historically themed slot.
Poltava is a 5-reel, 40 fixed pay line slot game and offers players an RTP of 96.4%. The transparent reels spin against a battlefield backdrop and the symbols are imagery of war. This includes things such as cannons, riflemen and cavalry amongst your more usual card symbols. The images are well drawn and the music playing in the background adds a bit of suspense to the game.
Bet Amounts – Betting begins at 20p per spin and can be increased up to the maximum of £100 per spin in Poltava. As is the case with most Elk Studios games, you have the choice of using the betting strategies available if you wish to.
Betting Strategies – There are four alternative betting options available in Poltava, as shown below. But if you don’t select any of these you will be able to adjust your bet yourself, as per the betting amounts shown above.
- Leveller – raises your bet by two steps after 5 losses consecutively, resets after a win,
- Optimiser – will bet a percentage of your available balance, adjusts automatically between 1%, 2%, 5% and 10% of your balance amount,
- Jumper – raises your bet by one step after each consecutive win and will reset after a loss,
- Booster – will raise your bet by one level after each consecutive loss and will reset after a win.
Wild Symbol – The Poltava logo is your wild symbol and will substitute for all other symbols except the lion’s head scatter. If you are lucky enough to get a pay line full of wilds, then it will pay out as if you have the highest paying symbol which is the White Horse cavalry giving a x200 coin win for 5 on a win line.
Marching Reels Feature – This is an interesting addition and encompasses the war theme, integrating it nicely into the game. If you land a full reel of stacked riflemen, horse cavalry or cannon artillery, then it will trigger this feature. You will now receive one respin of the reels, and the symbols will advance from the left of the reels to the right. As they do any matching symbols that land during the respin will move to the left hand side, as the stacked reel moves to the right. The respins and advancement of the stacked reel will continue until no more matching symbols land. Wins are accrued on each spin and once the feature is over will be added to your balance.
Bonus Spins Feature – Once you have landed three or more of the golden lion scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 or 4, you will enter the bonus spins. Here you are allocated just 3 spins, which doesn’t seem a lot. But, the lion scatter symbols are now stuck in place and become sticky wilds for the remaining spins. Not only that but for every new lion head that lands, it too will become a sticky wild and add an extra spin onto your round.
Poltava is a fantastic gaming experience, with great features, fast wins and that little bit of history. Wins came often in the base game but are quite low in value, it’s the features where the big money is earnt. Activating the features was easy enough where the bonus spins was concerned, but the marching reels was a little harder to trigger.
