300 Shields is a 5-reel, 25 pay line slot that offers a battle weary RTP of 95.3%. Set against a field of moving rushes, you can almost imagine you are heading to Leonidas’s home as they sway. Music playing along as the reels spin lend a bit of atmosphere, but it’s the battle cries of the soldier that will make you jump as they are most unexpected! Symbols range from ships, arrows, warriors, swords and of course your card symbols are here too, designed to look roman scripted in keeping with the theme.
Bet Amounts – Betting on 300 Shields begins at 1p per line in play and can be increased to 50p per line in play. This means that spins will cost anywhere from 1p up to £12.50, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t overly expensive. Amend your bet amounts by deciding first how many lines you wish to play, then the bet level you wish to play at per line. Obviously, the more lines you have active and in play, then the bigger the chances you have of winning.
Wild Symbol – A spartan warrior is your wild symbol and he will substitute for all other symbols except the scatter. Land 5 of the warrior wilds on an active pay line, to land the highest pay-out in the game of x1000 coins.
Scatter Symbol – Your scatter symbol is a soldiers shield and landing three or more of these anywhere in view will trigger the bonus. Not only that but scatter wins are also in play here as well. Meaning, you will also receive a pay out as well as your line win before the feature triggers with any x3 or more scatter symbols.
Bonus Spins Feature – With only one feature in the whole game, 300 Shields needs to deliver, and we think it does. Land three or more scatter symbols to trigger the bonus spins, of which you will be allocated just 3 to play through. However, there is a twist, the first being that all wins completed with the warrior wild symbol will be doubled. The second is a little more complicated, your main aim is to collect more shield scatter symbols. If you do this then you may be subject to the following extras:
- 2 or more shield scatter symbols will award x5 more spins with all wins containing a warrior wild symbol subject to a x5 multiplier,
- 6 or more shield scatter symbols will award x5 more spins with all wins containing a warrior wild now given a x25 multiplier
- 12 or more shield scatter symbols will award x5 more spins with all wins containing the warrior wild now given a x300 multiplier!
Land x3 shield scatter symbols on the same spin during the bonus spins game and you can always retrigger the entire bonus once again. That’s what we like to see in a game that only has one bonus, a way to keep it going!
300 Shields has a pretty good premise to work off, and although it under delivers with most aspects we still enjoyed the game. Despite only having one bonus feature, we did find that when it triggered we kept going for longer than anticipated. Not only that we did manage to gain some extra shields too, meaning we triggered the extra spins and multipliers. Whilst 300 Shields promised to be a battle filled, heart racing game it was much slower paced than we expected and as such we did find our minds wandering. For a quick and low cost play through this is definitely the game for you, but if you are looking for something to get your brain going maybe opt for something else.
